Locum Consultant - NHS Trust



Role Overview



The NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated

Locum Consultant

to provide high?quality clinical care, support service delivery, and contribute to the ongoing development of departmental services. The post holder will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient?centred care.

This role may be full?time or part?time depending on service needs and candidate availability.

Key Responsibilities



Provide

specialist clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management

of patients within the relevant specialty. Participate in

ward rounds, outpatient clinics, MDT meetings

, and emergency cover as required. Deliver

high?quality clinical decision?making

in line with NHS Trust policies and national guidelines. Supervise and support

junior doctors, trainees, nurses, and allied health professionals

. Contribute to

clinical governance

, including audits, quality improvement projects, and incident reviews. Ensure accurate and timely

clinical documentation

and communication with patients, families, and colleagues. Participate in the

on?call rota

, if applicable. Engage in

service development

, teaching, and training activities within the department.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements



Full

GMC registration

with a licence to practise. Inclusion on the

GMC Specialist Register

OR within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview. Evidence of

completion of specialty training

(CCT, CESR, or equivalent). Proven experience working at

Consultant level

within the NHS or equivalent healthcare system. Valid

Right to Work

in the UK. Up?to?date

appraisal

,

revalidation

, and mandatory training. Excellent communication, leadership, and team?working skills. Ability to work independently and manage complex clinical situations.

Desirable Criteria



Previous NHS Consultant or Locum Consultant experience. Experience in

teaching, supervision, and training

of junior staff. Participation in

research

, publications, or service improvement initiatives. Additional subspecialty expertise relevant to departmental needs.
