Job Description

We are seeking to recruit a Trust Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to work into the newly transformed Integrated CMHTs in Aire Court Community Unit. Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of specialist mental health and learning disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist services across York, the Yorkshire and Humber region, and some highly specialised national services.



The newly transformed community service has been designed following the NHS Long Term Plan which seeks to address gaps in care provision and ensure that people experiencing severe mental illness and difficulties get the care they need.

Mental health services need to ensure that:

o People can have a good-quality assessment at whatever point they present.



o Interventions for mental health problems are readily available and accessible at the location most appropriate to people's needs.



o Care can be stepped up where or when more specialist care is required, and stepped down, in a flexible manner without the need for cumbersome referrals and repeated assessments.



o There are effective links with community assets to support and enable people to become more embedded within their community and to use these assets to support their mental health.



The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. Applicants should be aware that any individual requiring a visa to work in the UK, the Trust provides sponsorship for registered healthcare practitioner roles only (this does not include Healthcare Support Workers) . This is an essential requirement, and the Trust is unable to offer you a role if you do not meet Trust requirements for sponsorship and Home Office requirements for a visa.



Duties will be in line with those of a Consultant Psychiatrist in a community setting. The post holder will be responsible, alongside the MDT for assessment and management of referrals accepted by the CMHT of those with mood and psychotic disorders, trauma based presentations and personality disorder. Given the nature of the work, there will be responsibilities in relation to the Mental Health Act (CTOs) including representation at tribunal hearings and assessing consent to treatment.



There will be a requirement for significant liaison with colleagues to facilitate transitions, planning care and discharge.
