Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and committed Orthopaedic Paediatric Consultant to join the team at the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Bury St Edmunds.



The individual appointed to the post will have competed orthopaedic training. They will need to share desire to deliver highest standard care to patient.



Required for 1 day a week, to deliver operating lists and clinics preference would be a Tuesday but this could be flexed.



Please note that we are unable to support sponsorship roles on Bank as we are not able to guarantee hours.



Hourly Pay



Core hours - 7.00 a.m. - 7.00 p.m. (Monday - Friday) - 100 ph



Unsocial hours -7.00 p.m. - 7.00 a.m. (including Bank Holidays and Weekends) - 120 ph



Key tasks:



To triage assess in clinic and make treatment plans for children referred with potential paediatric orthopaedic problems including CTEV, DDH



To make appropriate referrals and liaison with other specialities and departments as required



To fulfil administration requirements- responding to parent queries, investigation results etc



To perform appropriate surgery on those requiring surgery



To provide advice and support when required and available to adult orthopaedic surgeons.

Duties & responsibilities of the post



It is ideal that the candidate will have completed a defined period of structured training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and have gained a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of doing so at the date of the Appointments Committee. The candidate should hold a FRCS (Tr and Orth) or an appropriate overseas specialist qualification.



Subspecialist Interest



The Department would like to appoint a surgeon who has a broad ability in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery but with a special interest and expertise in Peads.
