The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality emergency care across the full spectrum of acute presentations, working within a busy but supportive multidisciplinary team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior trainee or specialty doctor seeking to gain further experience in Emergency Medicine within the NHS.
Key Responsibilities
Provide assessment, resuscitation, and management of acutely unwell or injured patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Work collaboratively with Consultants, Specialty Doctors, and Nursing staff to deliver safe and timely emergency care.
Supervise junior medical staff and support teaching where appropriate.
Manage referrals and liaise effectively with inpatient specialties and community services.
Participate in trauma calls, major incident response, and resuscitation as per hospital policy.
Contribute to audit, teaching, and service improvement initiatives within the department.
Participate in the departmental on-call or shift rota, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications and Requirements
Essential:
MBBS
or equivalent medical degree.
Full registration with the
General Medical Council (GMC)
and licence to practise in the UK.
Minimum of 3 years' post-graduate experience, including significant Emergency Medicine experience (ST3-ST8 level or equivalent).
Current valid certification in:
ATLS
(Advanced Trauma Life Support)
ALS
(Advanced Life Support)
APLS
(Advanced Paediatric Life Support)
Proven ability to manage a wide range of acute medical and trauma presentations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Eligibility to work in the UK (right to work / visa status).
Desirable:
Membership of the
Royal College of Emergency Medicine (MRCEM)
or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Previous NHS experience at Registrar level.
Experience in major trauma centres or tertiary emergency care settings.
Evidence of participation in teaching, audit, and clinical governance.
