Position: Locum Speech and Language Therapist - Barnet

Location: Edgware, HA8

Start Date: September 2025

Duration: Ongoing (initially 1 day per week, with potential for expansion later in 2025)

Schedule: 1 day per week (flexible)

Hours: 7.5 hours per week (flexible start and finish)

Hourly Rate: 30-35 (dependent on experience)



On behalf of our client, a leading post-18 special college provision in Barnet, we are seeking a passionate and skilled Locum Speech and Language Therapist to join their innovative team starting September 2025. Our client is dedicated to delivering holistic, effective services through a strong universal offer, working in creative and collaborative ways to address current challenges in Speech and Language Therapy. This is an ideal opportunity for a Band 6 or experienced Band 5 therapist to make a significant impact in a specialist educational setting



Key Responsibilities:


Inform and deliver students' Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) provisions. Embed holistic universal and targeted total communication support across the college. Manage a specialist caseload of students aged 18+ with complex communication needs, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and learning disabilities. Implement Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) strategies and support sensory integration needs. Deliver training to college staff to enhance communication support practices. Collaborate creatively with the team to address challenges and promote student development.

Requirements:


HCPC registration and relevant speech and language therapy qualifications. Clinical experience in: + Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
+ Learning disabilities
+ Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
+ Complex needs and sensory integration
+ Delivering training to support staff
Band 6 or experienced Band 5 level competence. Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a creative approach to problem-solving. Ability to work independently in a specialist environment.
