About the role
Job Summary
As a Logistics & Dispatch Apprentice at Sulzer, you will gain hands-on experience in the essential functions of supply chain management, learning to coordinate and optimize the movement of goods and materials within a global industrial environment. This apprenticeship offers a comprehensive introduction to logistics operations, from inventory management to dispatching and transportation planning.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in the daily planning and coordination of inbound and outbound shipments.
Learn to process and track orders, ensuring accurate documentation and timely delivery.
Support inventory management activities, including stock checks, cycle counts, and reconciliation.
Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments to resolve logistics-related issues.
Assist in maintaining accurate records of logistics activities and generating reports.
Learn to operate logistics software and systems for tracking and optimizing routes.
Participate in loading and unloading operations, adhering to safety protocols.
Contribute to identifying and implementing process improvements within the logistics department.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Job Qualifications
3 predicted or achieved GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent), which must include Maths and English.
Strong interest in logistics, supply chain management, or related fields.
Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods (within reasonable limits and with appropriate accommodations)

What will your time as an apprentice look like?
Year 1: Our apprentices will attend college full time during their first year as an apprentice while they work towards a Level 2 or 3 qualification. Here you will learn the basics needed for your role with us at Sulzer.
Years 2, 3 & 4: Join the team at Sulzer--You'll be supported in putting the practical skills you learnt at college into real work. To support your development, you will be offered internal training and mentoring while working towards a Level 3 qualification and final Apprenticeship Standard.
