Clarkson's Independent Funeral Directors is seeking a respectful, reliable, and compassionate individual to join our dedicated team as a
Pall Bearer, Logistics & Driver
. This is a meaningful, hands-on role that supports both our team and the families we care for -- ensuring our services are delivered with dignity, precision, and kindness.
Key Responsibilities:
Caring for the deceased with professionalism and respect
Attending to families at funerals when required
Pall bearing with a team during funeral services
Assisting the Senior Logistics & Pall Bearer, Josh Jones, in day-to-day duties
Driving our insured work van for collections and logistics across Bath, Frome, and Saltford and also training to drive the Limousine or Hearse
Removing and attending to people who have died in homes, hospitals, and care facilities
Preparing coffins, setting up for funerals, and maintaining mortuary spaces
Maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of vehicles, equipment, and property
What We're Looking For:
A calm, respectful, and discreet manner at all times
Clear spoken English (but this does not have to be first language) and strong interpersonal communication skills
A team player who works well in a small, close-knit environment
Full, clean UK driving licence (required)
DBS check is preferred -- or willingness to undergo one
Ability to lift and carry with appropriate technique and work in physically demanding settings
Someone who understands the importance of confidentiality and never takes photographs while on duty including not sharing any information (which will be signed in the contract for privacy to our clients) that you may come in contact with during your working hours
Ability to support people in moments of deep grief with empathy and professionalism
Working Hours & On-Call Details:
Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
One week per month on-call (rota set 6 months in advance)
On-call pay:
10/day retainer plus additional call-out fees for removals
Bank holidays off
28 days paid holiday per year
Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Eve
