Logistics Lead

Job Description

The Logistics Lead will manage and coordinate all logistics activities at the manufacturing site, including inbound deliveries, material handling, inventory movement, and outbound shipping. The Logistics Lead ensures that materials and finished goods are moved safely, efficiently, and on time to meet production and customer delivery schedules.

Responsibilities




Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics activities, including receiving, warehousing, and shipping. Plan and coordinate transportation and delivery schedules with suppliers, carriers, and customers. Work closely with procurement, production, and planning teams to align logistics with production requirements. Ensure accurate and timely booking, loading, and documentation of shipments. Maintain inventory accuracy through effective movement, storage, and reporting processes. Lead, supervise, or coordinate with warehouse and forklift teams to ensure safe and efficient operations. Monitor freight costs, negotiate rates with carriers, and recommend cost-saving opportunities. Ensure compliance with health, safety, customs, and environmental regulations. Maintain accurate records of shipping documentation, delivery notes, manifests, and carrier performance. Drive continuous improvement in logistics processes, systems, and supplier performance.



Skills Required




Proven experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain coordination (typically 3-5 years in manufacturing or warehousing). Strong understanding of transportation, warehouse operations, and inventory flow. Good organisational and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with ERP systems, logistics software, and Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication and coordination abilities. Ability to manage time-sensitive logistics in a fast-paced environment.



Preferred Qualifications




Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business. Forklift certification or warehouse supervision experience is a plus. Understanding of lean logistics, inventory control, or Just-In-Time (JIT) practices.



Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)




On-time delivery (OTD) performance to customers. Accuracy and timeliness of inbound receipts and outbound shipments. Freight and logistics cost control. Inventory movement accuracy and stock variance. Logistics-related downtime or disruptions to production.
