Job Purpose



Working at Shift Manager level, the primary purpose of this position is to manage operational logistic activities, processes and projects, including overseeing inbound and outbound deliveries. You would oversee site storage facilities and liaise with all relevant stakeholders to ensure optimal utilisation. The role also leads and supports with other related projects across the site.

Job responsibilities and assignments



Lead and motivate?a team of dispatch, stores and yard operators across three shifts, ensuring high performance and engagement. Lead and support with projects across site ensuring close out and recording of relevant costs. Conduct regular performance reviews?and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members. Communicate effectively?with all levels of the organisation to ensure alignment and understanding of logistics goals and objectives. Lead and oversee?the organisation of the safe and efficient storage and distribution of goods. Ensure?that all relevant functions of logistics are fulfilled correctly and efficiently. Supervise?the organisation of shipments, coordination of vehicles and loads, and monitor yard and logistics processes. Manage?despatch, inbound, and warehouse operations to maximise efficiencies and cost savings. Balance efficiencies?with the objective of delivering outstanding service to customers through successful despatch and management, ensuring lead times are met. Oversee?the inbound stock operation effectively and with accuracy. Act as a point of escalation?and be seen as an expert in the business to address carrier issues across different stakeholder groups. Implement?the company's logistics strategies and manage and monitor all KPIs for the logistics and warehouse functions, improving upon these where necessary. Maintain?all logistics/supply chain documentation and implement changes or introduce new documentation where needed. Drive cost-cutting initiatives?within the logistics and warehouse departments and identify areas where cost savings can be made. Propose and implement?continuous improvement initiatives and projects. Foster proactive customer contact?and relationships (both internal and external) to ensure satisfaction. Contribute?to the attainment and maintenance of all relevant quality standards for the site. Ensure vehicle and driver compliance?is completed. Champion health & safety?throughout the site and ensure the workforce adheres to H&S policies. Develop, propose, and agree?functional budgets with the Operations Manager. Demonstrate flexibility?and adapt to change as required. Analyse and identify trends in KPI data to drive improvement projects across site. Support with the maintenance of site capacity models and SAP IBP system. Work closely with operational leaders to plan and support with day-to-day delivery. Cover other Shift Managers where necessary to ensure the smooth running of the site

Knowledge, Skills, Experience



Previous Logistics and warehousing experience Relevant qualifications desirable e.g. IOSH Managing Safely or other logistics or supply chain related field Previous experience managing fleet and transport operation People management experience of large teams is essential Previous route planning experience is highly desired Experience in a fast-paced, logistics and warehouse function, preferably in a fast-paced food processing environment Excellent people management skills with the ability to develop, motivate & challenge direct reports and the wider team. Proactive and a team player skills, leading by example Ability to challenge business processes and implement change - works on own initiative as required. Ability to work to deadlines and make effective decisions under pressure. A very high level of competence in the operation of MS Office applications, including advanced Excel skills.
