Lead and coordinate the daily planning and execution of domestic and international road transport operations
Prepare, validate, and issue transport documentation, permits, compliance paperwork, and method of movement plans
Act as the key point of contact between customers, drivers, subcontractors, and security partners to ensure seamless operational delivery
Use the companys Transport Management System (TMS) to create, monitor, and close jobs, ensuring accuracy in job costing, invoicing, and performance reporting
Provide real-time operational oversight, responding promptly to delays, incidents, or last-minute changes to ensure service recovery and customer satisfaction
Assist with route planning, vehicle allocation, and scheduling in accordance with driver hours, load restrictions, and customer deadlines
Support the commercial function by preparing quotations, monitoring profitability, and identifying efficiencies in routing and resource allocation
Ensure full regulatory and security compliance across all operations (including ADR, DGSA, and MOD movement protocols)
Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of precision, accountability, and continuous improvement
Collaborate with the Compliance and Fleet teams to support audits, vehicle checks, and permit renewals
Key Skills & Experience:
Solid understanding of UK and European road transport operations, regulations, and compliance frameworks
Strong organisational and administrative skills with proven attention to detail
Excellent communicator, capable of managing multiple stakeholders and maintaining professionalism under pressure
Competent user of Microsoft Office and Transport/Logistics Management Systems (e.g., Mandata, Business Central)
Commercially aware with the ability to analyse costs, margins, and performance data
Problem solver who demonstrates initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities
A team player who promotes collaboration while being confident to work independently and make decisions
Qualifications:
Full clean UK driving licence (essential)
Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (essential)
English language proficiency (essential); additional foreign language skills (advantageous, particularly French or German)
Right to work in the UK
Prior experience in transport operations, logistics coordination, or planning (minimum 2 years preferred)
Flexibility to work early, mid, and late shifts (Monday to Friday) with occasional weekend work as required by the business
