The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a Logistics Operative, to join our team based in Cambridge. In this position, you'll take ownership of shipping, inventory, and documentation: archiving, maintaining records and preparing reports.
This role will be a full-time, permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working hours: Monday to Friday, core hours
The Team
You'll join a close-knit team of 7 Logistics Technicians. You'll belong to our business department Lab and Product Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
What we're looking for
Education: GCSE or equivalent secondary school qualification
Experience:
Minimum 2 years in material handling, inventory replenishment, or customer service within a logistics environment
Solid understanding of shipping, inventory, or purchasing processes
Desirable: Spill containment training, IATA, DOT, IMDG
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
How you'll thrive and create an impact
Coordinating general deliveries from the basement sorting hub to various laboratories.
Providing excellent customer service to internal end users.
Receiving restricted goods (e.g., HBS, RMS, GCB, radiation, and controlled materials), maintaining chain of custody records, and managing both digital and physical archiving.
Executing time-critical specialist tasks, such as:
Filling scientific equipment with liquid nitrogen
Managing fixed daily delivery runs
Handling cryogenic deliveries
Utilizing tracking software to monitor the movement of samples and goods.
Collecting internal lab samples for processing and external dispatch.
Recording internal audits for sequencing sample movements.
Managing inter-laboratory sample distribution and internal goods movement.
Receipting goods into tracking systems to ensure traceability.
Analyzing data related to scientific equipment usage and consumption trends.
