Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of different sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education.
The division has manufacturing sites in three locations: Dalton, Lostock, and Enniskillen. Each has full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide a high-quality product to a variety of different sectors. Each of our sites has its own strong reputation in the market and between them cover a wider geographical area, including Europe. They continue to set the

Vacancy Details
In the Logistics Operative - Chargehand position you will support the Team Leader in overseeing daily logistics operations, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standard. The Chargehand will act as a key point of contact in the absence of the Team Leader and play a vital role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and communication across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as deputy to the Team Leader, taking charge in their absence and supporting shift handovers.
Allocate and oversee daily tasks, ensuring safe working practices and high-quality standards.
Provide on-the-job training and help develop team skills to maintain smooth operations.
Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with policies and lifting regulations.
Report hazards and incidents promptly, supporting a proactive approach to risk management.
Assist with safety audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordinate closely with the Team Leader to ensure consistent communication and smooth shift transitions.
Escalate issues or delays that could impact logistics or production flow.
Support continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proven leadership and clear communication abilities.
Strong understanding of product standards and logistics processes.
High attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality assurance.
Resilient under pressure, with the ability to manage shifting priorities.
Confident using iPad-based systems and digital tools in daily operations.
