Logistics Porter - Hospital
Shift Pattern: 4 Days On / 4 Days Off
Hours: 08:00 - 20:00
Hourly Pay: 12.21 (increasing to 12.51 after 12 weeks)
We're looking for a reliable Logistics Porter to join a hospital Facilities team, supporting smooth daily operations and patient care.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining hospital efficiency and delivering excellent patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe collection, segregation, and movement of clinical, domestic, and recyclable waste in line with policy
  • Collection, delivery, and rotation of clean and used linen, reporting any shortages or quality issues
  • Adherence to infection prevention and control procedures, including PPE and hygiene standards
  • Cleaning and decontamination of carts, trolleys, and transport containers
  • Safe use of cages, trolleys, and other manual handling equipment
  • Carrying out basic equipment checks and reporting faults or damage
  • Recording tasks using handheld devices or paper logs
  • Communicating professionally with clinical teams, estates, security, and facilities colleagues
  • Escalating any issues such as delays, hazards, or stock shortages to the Facilities Coordinator
Experience / Training / Qualifications Required:
  • Previous experience in logistics, porterage, facilities, or a warehouse environment (hospital or similar preferred)
  • Good awareness of infection control, health & safety, and manual handling
  • Physically fit and able to lift, carry, push/pull loads and remain on feet for extended periods
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with staff and patients
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work a shift-based rota, including weekends
  • Basic IT skills (handheld devices, task logging, email)
  • Willingness to complete mandatory training, including safeguarding
