Summary

We are seeking a dedicated LSA (Learning Support Assistant) to join our team at 's Sixth Form College in Southampton. This role is vital in supporting our students, particularly those with special educational needs, ensuring they have the resources and guidance necessary to thrive in their academic pursuits.

Responsibilities

Assist students with special educational needs in their learning activities Provide support to students with disabilities and autism Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons for diverse learning needs Monitor student progress and provide feedback to educators Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Facilitate communication between students, parents, and staff Participate in training and development opportunities as required

Qualifications

Experience working in special education or as a Learning Support Assistant Strong understanding of working with children and young adults, especially those with disabilities Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively Relevant qualifications in education or child development are preferred Experience in tutoring or mentoring is an advantage Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders is beneficial
