We're looking for a data-driven Research Analyst to support the Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs), helping align regional skills with employer needs. You'll gather and analyse data from businesses and providers to shape strategic recommendations, working closely with the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Policy Team.

The Chamber delivers the LSIP on behalf of the Department for Education (DfE), working across the local skills ecosystem to ensure that employers' voices directly shape the region's future workforce.

In Coventry and Warwickshire, the Chamber partners closely with the Warwickshire Skills Hub and Warwickshire County Council to create joined-up activity that supports both current and future labour market needs. This role will create activity to enable other plans and Strategies such as the Warwickshire Employment and Skills Strategy and Get Warwickshire Working. This partnership-driven approach ensures that local employers can influence curricula, qualifications, and training provision to meet evolving business and economic priorities.

Main duties and responsibilities:



Data Collection and Analysis.

Role and responsibilities:



Support the delivery of the LSIP research and evidence plan for both regions (Coventry & Warwickshire).

Collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data on employer needs, skills gaps, workforce trends, and training provision.

Manage datasets and dashboards, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with data protection standards.

Create resources to clearly communicate findings to stakeholders.

Conduct desk-based research and literature reviews on regional and national labour market trends.

Support the design and delivery of employer surveys, focus groups and stakeholder consultations.

Translate findings into concise, actionable insights that inform LSIP priorities and reports.

Contribute to sector deep-dive analysis and thematic briefings.

Work closely with the GBCC Policy Team to align analytical approached and outputs across both LSIP's

Liaise with partners including the WMCA, local authorities, education providers and sector groups to validate findings and share intelligence.

Support LSIP Project Managers in preparing presentations and evidence packs for governance boards, working groups and stakeholder events.

Contribute to drafting of LSIP reports, progress updates and briefings for internal and external audiences.

Translate complex data into accessible written summaries, infographics and visual content.

Support the production of material for DfE, Skills England and local governance meetings.

Maintain accurate and timely data records using Chamber CRM systems and shared databases.

Assist in monitoring LSIP delivery milestones, impact measures, and progress tracking.

Support evaluation activity to assess outcomes and lessons learned across both LSIPs.

Person Specification:



Essential



Degree-level qualification in Economics, Data Analytics, Business, Social Science or related discipline.

Strong numeracy, analytical capability and research proficiency.

Proven experience in research, data analysis or policy insight roles.

Experience of managing, cleaning and interpreting datasets.

Ability to produce reports, briefings or dashboards based on a range of data types.

Understanding of economic development, skills systems and local labour market dynamics.

Awareness of how employer insights inform policy and education provision.

Excellent analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication.

Proficient in MS365, particularly in Excel & PowerPoint.

Ability to translate data into meaningful insights and visual presentations.

Organised, self-motivated, and able to balance multiple projects.

Professional, collaborative, and inclusive in approach.

Analytical, curious, and evidence driven.

Committed to accuracy, integrity, and data quality.

Motivated by public impact and improving the regional skills system.

Driving license and use of a car for business purposes.

An extremely positive can-do attitude.

Desirable



Completed training in data visualisation tools, e.g. Power BI, Tableau etc.

Experience within a skills, education or economic development setting.

Familiarity with LSIP's, labour market intelligence or government funded programmes.

Experience using CRM systems and collaborative data tools

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Competence in using LinkedIn or similar platforms for professional engagement.
