We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant to support our childcare team. The ideal candidate will assist in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children, ensuring their developmental needs are met. This role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic setting, contributing to early childhood education and fostering positive relationships with children and their families. The Assistant will play a vital part in supporting management and leadership within the nursery or childcare centre.
Responsibilities
Support staff in setting up and clearing away lunchtime areas.
Supervise and assist children during mealtimes, encouraging self-help skills and positive eating habits.
Promote good hygiene practices, including handwashing and cleaning routines.
Engage with children in a caring and supportive manner, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing.
Assist with transition times before and after lunch, including toileting, settling, and preparing for rest or afternoon play.
Follow all nursery safeguarding, health and safety, and food hygiene procedures.
Work closely with the nursery team to maintain a calm, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
Supervise children during playtime, mealtime, and rest periods
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment in accordance with health and safety and Early years nutrition guidelines.
Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to childcare
Assist with administrative tasks such as record keeping.
Experience and Expectations
Experience in an early years or school environment is desirable but not essential -- full training will be provided
Knowledge of childcare practices, child development stages, and nursery routines
Experience with organising activities that promote learning and development
Warm, caring, and patient nature with a genuine love for working with young children.
Ability to work well as part of a team and build positive relationships with children, staff, and families.
Reliable and punctual with a flexible, can-do attitude.
Awareness of health and safety and safeguarding procedures in an early years setting.
