Job Description

We are looking for someone who can support the nursery at the core part of the day and to support with lunchtimes. Ideally we are looking for someone who holds an relevant childcare qualification, has some experience working within an early years setting, or working with children.

To start: ASAP

Hours: 11.30am - 2pm Monday to Friday all year round

There maybe an opportunity for more hours to help cover staff holidays and sickness

Purpose of Post

1. To provide a high standard of physical and emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the nursery.

2. To give support to other personnel within the nursery.

3. To implement the daily routine in the base room.

Responsible To:

Childcare Manager (Deputy Manager in absence of Childcare Manager)

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your care in conjunction with other staff, taking into account individual needs, stages of development, religious and cultural differences.

2. To keep observations and records on your key children as necessary under the EYFS.

3. Work with parents of children with additional needs and other agencies in order to give full integration into the nursery.

4. Support all staff and engage in a good team.

5. Liaise with and support parents and other family members.

6. To be involved in activities outside of working hours, e.g. training, staff meetings, Christmas party etc.

7. To be flexible within working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help where needed including to undertake certain domestic duties within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snacks, meals, cleaning of equipment etc.

8. Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the mission statement, aims and objectives of the nursery are fulfilled.

9. Recording accidents on the appropriate forms.

10. Look upon the nursery as a 'whole' where your help can be utilised and be constantly aware of the needs of all the children.

11. Ensure some one known to the nursery collects the children.

12. To respect confidentiality of information received.

13. To develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key person.

14. Specific Child Care Tasks: - To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing. - Washing and changing children as required. - Providing comfort and warmth to an ill child.

15. To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standard at all times.

16. Transport children safely to and from school, whether it be in a vehicle or walking.

17. Liaise with school staff and be able to pass on accurate information from parents to nursery and back to parents again.

Core training is provided through extensive CPD opportunities it would be desirable to have prior knowledge in Safeguarding Level 1 and 2, Paediatric First Aid, Level 2 Food Safety.

All applicants are required to undertake an Enhanced Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of this application will be funded by Tiny Toez, All applicants are required to subscribe to the DBS Update Service and maintain the annual fee of 15.00.

It is an offence under section 76, Childcare Act 2006 to knowingly employ a Disqualified person within a childcare setting. Declarations are in place within the setting to ensure Safeguarding is paramount.
