We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lunch Time Assistant to join our family at Little Tots who will be helping at lunchtime but also working 3 mornings a week with the children.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for working with children and have some experience in early childhood education or childcare settings. This role involves supporting the daily activities within a nursery environment at lunchtime, ensuring a safe and nurturing space for children to learn and grow. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage tasks effectively are essential for success in this position.
The hours would be 8-9-2pm Monday-Wednesday and 11:30am-1:30pm Thursday and Friday all year, approx. 51 weeks of the year, although we would consider a term time only position only for the right person. With the option of working more hours within the nursery setting.
We are committed and motivated in our Montessori & Forest School teaching approach which works alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage, offering a high level of education for every child. The successful applicant must be able to work as part of a strong team, have a love for children and must drive.
Duties
Supervise and engage with children during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being.
To help the children with their independence.
Going to the shops to buy the children's teas.
To help prep the children's tea.
To probe the food which is delivered to the nursery setting to ensure the food is safe to eat.
To organise the equipment ready for the next day.
Communicate effectively with children and staff to foster a positive environment.
Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and across the nursery.
Organisation within the kitchen space.
Cleaning the kitchen.
Ensuring the equipment is kept clean and efficient.
To load and unload the dishwasher.
Participate in training sessions to enhance skills.
Requirements
A food hygiene certificate and DBS - But we can help with these.
Previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting or having experience with your own children but not mandatory.
Excellent communication skills.
A valid driving licence is key as you cannot get here by any public transport.
A genuine passion for nurturing children's development and promoting a positive learning environment.
