We are seeking a skilled and driven Machine Learning / Software Development Lead to oversee the design, development, and deployment of intelligent, scalable software solutions. In this hybrid technical and leadership role, you will manage a cross-functional team of software engineers and machine learning specialists, playing a key part in delivering innovative data-driven products.

This is a hands-on leadership position, ideal for someone who enjoys coding, architecture, and mentoring, while also influencing strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities:



Leadership & Strategy



Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define the technical roadmap and architectural vision.

Champion best practices in software engineering, machine learning operations (MLOps), and model governance.

Support team growth through recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development.

Lead, mentor, and support a team of engineers and data scientists in delivering high-quality solutions.

Technical Delivery



Design and implement robust, scalable software systems and machine learning pipelines.

Lead the deployment and integration of ML models into production environments.

Maintain high standards of performance, reliability, security, and scalability.

Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, and thorough documentation.

Evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools to enhance development and delivery.

Project & Stakeholder Management



Manage technical project delivery, timelines, and risk assessments.

Strike a balance between experimental research and production-ready development.

Communicate technical decisions, challenges, and progress effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years' experience in software development.

At least 3 years of hands-on experience with machine learning in a production environment.

Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or similar languages.

Proven experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).

Practical knowledge of data pipeline tools (e.g. Airflow, Spark) and ML deployment (e.g. FastAPI, TorchServe, SageMaker).

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Desirable Experience:



Experience working within a start-up or scale-up environment.

Experience with MLOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for ML applications.

Prior experience managing remote or hybrid technical teams.

Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and large-scale data infrastructure.

Contributions to open-source projects or the broader ML/engineer
