We are seeking a Machine Operator to join our established production team at our Thurmaston site. This is a hands-on role within a manufacturing environment, involving the operation of specialist equipment and supporting wider engineering activities.
The successful candidate will be reliable, technically minded, and quality-focused, with a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills within a growing engineering-led business.
Key Responsibilities
Operate a carbide press and sintering furnace in line with process specifications and safety procedures
Carry out surface grinding operations to required tolerances
Perform component etching and finishing processes
Monitor machine performance and identify faults or process deviations
Carry out routine quality checks and maintain accurate production records
Use MS Word and Excel for basic reporting, data entry, and documentation
Support other engineering and production activities as required
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
Actively contribute to process improvement and efficiency initiatives
Skills & Experience
Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment
Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to follow technical instructions and safety procedures
Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-focused approach
Experience operating presses, furnaces, or grinding equipment
Knowledge of quality control processes
Background in carbide, sintering, or precision engineering environments
