Job Description

Job Scope & Accountabilities:

To support the Management Team in managing the production processes and production staff to meet Safety, Quality, Training, Productivity and KPI targets set by the Company, consistently and cost-effectively.

Always adhere to the health and safety regulations. Also following company quality specifications. To ensure both pack rates and machine speed are at the maximum level to achieve daily orders. If housekeeping is not kept to its agreed standard within your work area, by other support functions, you must report it to a member of the Management Team. Any problems that may occur making it difficult to follow all the above you must report this to either your Area Leader, or indeed any other member of the Management Team.

Operating Environment:

Labour intensive manufacturing environment, which is clean, tidy, and chilled throughout

High volume, fast-moving, and complex process

Manufacturing a perishable, short shelf-life product where hygiene standards are critical and

guided by legislation and customer standards e.g. Food Safety Act, BRCGS standards

Responsibilities& Accountabilities:

Organise and motivate production staff to ensure they are working to their full potential and the operation is effectively staffed (including agency staff).

Achieve agreed quality and food safety standards relating to temperature, grading, wrapping, labelling, presentation, and measurement. Ensure the product is consistently produced to the agreed standard and specification.

Responsible for the quality, labelling and packaging assessments during production and at end of line, ensuring all procedures are followed correctly

Ensure all online quality, label checks and line assessments are completed accurately and in a timely manner according to the job length.

Check weigher calibrations & verification

Work with colleagues to maximise yield and reduce giveaway

Responsible for ensuring that all staff including new starters are trained and developed appropriately against approved training plans, skilled matric, SOP's and off the job compliance training is attended and this is supported by all relevant completed documentation.

To continually develop and improve upon production processes and be motivated in implementing new initiatives.

Ensure KPI data is maintained and completed and report daily performance to your Area Leader.

Escalate issues in a timely way to your Area Leaders and / or Production Managers.

Be responsible for the product change to include dates, film, and labels, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner and to the agreed specifications.

Ensuring staffing issues are dealt with effectively, consistently, and fairly.

Ensure safety standards are maintained and improved within area of responsibility.

Housekeeping/Hygiene - Ensure your area of responsibility is maintained to the required standard

Participate as necessary in appropriate shifts and on-call duty rotas, if applicable.

Be flexible to develop your knowledge, be trained on multiple lines and lead any line within the business, once trained.

Ensure information is treated as confidential.

To be aware of, understand, manage, and adhere to the maintenance of good GMP.

To be aware of, understand, manage, and adhere to health & safety procedures, encouraging safe work behaviours.

To be aware of, understand, manage, and adhere to food hygiene and food safety procedures.

To comply with and promote all Walsh Mushrooms policies and procedures.

Participate and promote the Walsh Mushrooms Vision and Values.

Other duties within the general scope of the post may be required from time to time.

Knowledge & Experience



Experience of a fast-moving process and relevant Food Safety standards Relevant NVQ at Level 2 Experience of factory systems and processes e.g. QC/Meeting planned deadlines 2-3 years production experience Food Safety trained Understanding of computerised systems Experience of training others.

Skills and Abilities



Ability to form good working relationships with all staff and managers Ability to be able to co-ordinate, assess and train new and existing team members Excel / computer skills Good level of communication Functional skills English and Maths Entry Level 1
Conscientious with an attention to detail.

Comfortable with working in a cold environment.

Ability to work unsupervised.

Self-motivated.
