Overview


We are seeking an experienced Machinery Despatch Service Engineer - Team Leader to oversee and coordinate maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities within a manufacturing facility. This leadership role requires a strong background in industrial mechanics, electrical systems, and hydraulic and pneumatic components. The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical knowledge, team management skills, and customer service abilities to ensure optimal machinery performance and safety standards. Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), CMMS, schematics, and field service operations is essential. A background in welding and steel fabrication, and machinery maintenance experience will be considered advantageous. Fluency in English is required for effective communication across teams and clients.

Duties



Lead and supervise the in house Production team responsible for machinery repair, Inspection, test and package of machines prior to despatch at our factory Wire 415v and 240v machinery to the correct standard for testing and operational purposes - Electrical qualifications essential for the role Use and operate overhead crane for manoeuvring, loading, and unloading machinery and items - training will be provided if no previous experience*
Operate and use of counterbalance and reach fork trucks when required for manoeuvring, loading, and unloading machinery and items - training will be provided if no previous experience Visit customer sites for diagnosis of machine faults, repairs, routine servicing, and training Carry out installation, commissioning, and training of sold machinery as required Carry out repair and refurbishment of used machinery for resale, including cleaning, painting and identifying and sourcing of parts Maintain good communication and prompt responses with the service team and customer about current issues, proposed solutions and outstanding work Assist with building a knowledgebase of common faults and solutions o Represent Selmach to our customer's in a positive manner Maintain a high level of housekeeping at our factory and on site, and to work in a safe way in line with current legislation and best practice Maintain a daily record of your working hours and expenses Maintain the showroom and warehouse in an organised and safe condition along with other general warehouse duties Train team members on new procedures or equipment updates; promote a culture of continuous improvement. Any other duties as assigned

Skills



Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (NVQ or Diploma) or similar Extensive experience working in manufacturing facilities with a strong understanding of industrial mechanics, electrical systems (high/low voltage), hydraulics, and pneumatic systems. Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams. Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial electrician work, welding, and precision measurement instruments. Ability to operate foklift and overhead crane; knowledge of safety standards related to high voltage and electrical work is essential. Strong analysis skills for troubleshooting complex machinery issues; capable of interpreting data from ammeters, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools. Excellent customer service skills to liaise effectively with clients during field service operations. Machinery maintenance experience or background in industrial maintenance environments is highly desirable. Fluency in English for clear communication within the team and with clients; leadership qualities for managing a team effectively.
