Purpose of the Role
The European Islamic Centre (EIC) is seeking an inspiring Deputy Headteacher to supplement the
leadership at EIC madrasah. He/she would be involved in guiding and moOvaOng our staff to deliver exceptional teaching and learning experiences to our madrasah students. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader who:
Earns respect and trust throughout the madrasah, ensuring its continuous success and improvement.
Plans and executes improvements through effective management and delegation, guaranteeing high-quality Islamic education for all students and maintaining excellent standards of learning and achievement.
Cultivates strong working relationships with staff and management to foster a learning environment where all children are eager to learn, encouraged to reach their full potential, and develop as confident Muslims.
Provides professional leadership for the madrasah by setting clear and ambitious goals for themselves, colleagues, parents, and students.
Is a professional, approachable, welcoming, and adept communicator.
1. Primary Roles
1.1 Leading and Managing Staff
Carry out regular reviews of madrasah services and effective responses.
Promote task ownership through delegation and devolution of responsibilities, consistent with employment conditions.
Foster strong working relationships with management, staff, students, parents, and the wider community.
Ensure all staff are qualified, trained and have relevant safety checks completed
Manage staff pay, staff well-being and staff holidays and absences
1.2 Efficient and Effective Deployment of Staff and Resources
Develop and implement staff retention policies while actively reducing staff turnover.
Ensure the security and effective supervision of madrasah buildings, contents, and grounds.
Prioritise expenditure, fund allocation, and efficient administration and control of madrasah finances.
Efficiently organize and manage space to meet curriculum needs, community use, and health and safety regulations.
Collaborate with colleagues to deploy and develop all staff effectively to improve the quality of Islamic education provided.
Manage, monitor, and review all available resources to enhance the quality of education, student achievements, efficiency, and value for money.
1.3 Safeguarding Children & Safer Recruitment
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, in accordance with the Education Act 2011.
Actively ensure adherence to the EIC Safeguarding Policy and Procedures through implementation, monitoring, review, and information sharing.
Commit to the role of designated safeguarding lead and ensure the safety and well-being of all children is ensured, as well as recording and reporting of incidents.
2. In collaboration with the Headteacher
2.1 Strategic Direction and Development of the Madrasah
Demonstrate purposeful leadership for both staff and students.
Collaborate with management, staff, and parents to develop and promote the madrasah's ethos and values.
Offer visionary direction to develop operational plans and objectives aligned with the madrasah's long-term aims and goals.
Foster a culture of openness, knowledge sharing, and collaborative work among staff, students, parents, management, and the wider community.
Develop and endorse positive strategies for work practices, ensuring equal access to high-quality Islamic education regardless of race, gender, background, or social status.
Take an innovative approach to introduce new initiatives, ideas, and practices to address emerging challenges.
Ensure that madrasah policies and practices adhere to national, local, and madrasah requirements.
2.2 Teaching and Learning
Support in cultivating an Islamic environment that fosters good teaching, effective learning, high standards of achievement, and discipline.
Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements in financial and operational aspects.
Support policies for the personal, social, and moral development of students.
Support the monitoring and evaluation of teaching quality, learning outcomes, and student achievements through appropriate methods.
Support in the implementation of positive strategies for developing good work practices, promoting Islamic behaviour and discipline, and providing clear guidance on discipline management.
Maintain effective partnerships with the community, parents, and the wider community to enrich the curriculum and enhance teaching and learning experiences.
Promote extracurricular activities in line with the madrasah's educational objectives.
2.3 Leading and Managing Staff
Implement staff training and development programs to foster personal growth and development.
Facilitate supported learning for staff
Plan, allocate, support, and evaluate work performed by groups, teams, and individuals to assess overall performance and success in achieving madrasah aims.
Implement and maintain effective systems for staff performance management, including performance evaluations and targets.
Participate in performance management arrangements and identify areas for further training as needed.
Monitor the continuing professional development of staff, including the induction of newly recruited members.
2.4 Accountability
Instil an understanding that the madrasah is primarily accountable for its performance to the students and parents who entrust it with their children's Islamic education.
Keep parents and students well-informed about the curriculum, progress, and attainment of the madrasah.
Encourage active participation and contribution from parents to support their child's learning and the madrasah's improvement.
Fulfil any reasonable duties as required by management.

Previous teaching and management experience is essential.

PGCE qualification.
Experience working with volunteers.

IT literacy and competence with MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
