We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Mail Clerks at the 421st Air Base Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF)Menwith Hill, United Kingdom.

What will be your primary role?



The primary purpose of the position is to receive, distribute, record, and process all incoming, outgoing and intra-base accountable (express and insured) and non-accountable official communications, as well as the safeguarding and processing of classified mail. You will process both incoming and outgoing mail, sorting incoming mail to approximately 40 distribution points by organizational designation, room number, name, etc. You will independently receive and review incoming and outgoing correspondence and promptly determines the appropriate priority and action required while maintaining security accountability. In addition, you will provide administrative support.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?



1. Knowledge of postal regulations for processing all types of mail.

2. Knowledge of security regulations and administrative procedures in handling classified or special category mail.

3. General knowledge of the clerical procedures in performing the routine administrative work of the organization.

4. Skill in applying basic data gathering methods to collect various types of factual information.

5. Ability to learn the organizational structure for mail distribution and ability to learn routes, office locations, points of collection and delivery, and names or codes of key employees or offices.

What are the conditions of employment for this role?



1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.

2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.

3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period

4. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.

5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

6. Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Monday-Friday, between 0700-1600) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.

7. You must meet USPS and DoD requirements for the handling of sensitive material.

8. You must be physically able to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 70 pounds.

9. You must obtain and maintain the appropriate enhanced security clearance.

10. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
