Summary of the Maintenance Electrician role

As the Maintenance Electrician you will carry out electrical and instrument maintenance work onsite and provide first-hand technical diagnosis and correction of maintenance problems to maintain and assets and site in a safe and efficient operational condition.

Based at our site in Cramlington you will work a day shift pattern of Monday-Friday 37 hours per week.

Your responsibilities

  • Carrying out electrical and instrument repairs, modifications, plant upgrades, installation and commissioning.
  • Carrying out SAP transactions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Conducting hazardous area inspections and repairs ensuring all hazardous area equipment complies with the statutory requirements and the appropriate standards are maintained.
  • Carrying out maintenance and proof testing on Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Carrying out maintenance on Medium and Low voltage installations and general electrical systems across site.
  • Carrying out calibrations and functional testing of instrumented systems.
  • Carrying out problem solving and diagnostic checks on electrical and instrument systems.
  • Carrying out work which is outside core skill and in line with agreement in force relating to multi-skilling.
  • Accepting and handing back permit to works.
  • Carrying out work in compliance with cGMP standards.
  • Requisitioning and collecting stores materials as required.
  • Conducting inspections and carrying out preventative maintenance activity.
  • Completing small projects as defined by the Area Engineer.
  • Developing maintenance procedures.
  • Complying with all safety, health and environmental requirements.

Requirements for the role
  • Recognised craft apprenticeship in an electrical discipline.
  • Ideally HNC/ONC level qualified or equivalent.
  • COMPex certificate desirable but not essential.
  • Ideally have experience within the chemical industry.
  • Must have an awareness of maintenance requirements of Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of DSEAR and ATEX.
