Maintenance Engineer - Day Shift

We are looking for a reliable and proactive

Maintenance Engineer

to join our engineering team. In this hands-on role, you will assist with both planned and unplanned maintenance, support the team in closing out corrective actions, and provide technical solutions to maintain high standards of equipment performance. You will also deputise for the Maintenance Manager when required and play a key role in upholding Health and Safety standards across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety

Comply with and maintain safe production processes, following food safety and Health & Safety procedures. Support routine safety audits and inspections. Report near misses within your department and across the business.

Food Safety & Quality

Support audits to help resolve any areas of concern. Report any food safety near misses or concerns to the relevant manager.

Operational

Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) actions daily. Support site engineering teams to ensure machinery and equipment operate effectively. Attend call-outs for unplanned breakdowns and record downtime. Maintain records in the Maintain-X system and other company software. Analyse departmental needs and propose solutions to support business objectives. Support project work and implement agreed engineering initiatives within deadlines. Maintain good housekeeping in workshop and canteen areas. Proactively suggest and implement improvements for Quality and Continuous Improvement (QCIT). Ensure all records of failures, corrective actions, and maintenance activities are accurate and timely.

Personal Specifications:

Adhere to Health & Safety and Food Safety policies and report any issues promptly. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and share knowledge and skills. Lead by example, promoting a positive, proactive, and no-blame culture. Show ownership, accountability, and a helpful attitude toward all tasks. Work independently where required, using initiative and problem-solving skills. Communicate clearly in both written and verbal English.

Skills & Experience Required:

Proven experience as a multi-skilled maintenance engineer in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems. Competent in using IT systems including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, SAP, and Maintain-X (training provided if needed). Experience with both planned and reactive maintenance. Knowledge of Health & Safety and food safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
