Maintenance Engineer - Night Shift
We're looking for a skilled and reliable Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team at JDM Food Group. This is a site-based night shift role at our Bicker facility, working a 3's and 2's shift pattern, and paid at 26.90 per hour.
Reporting into the Engineering function, you'll deliver both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support, playing a key role in minimising downtime, maintaining site safety, and ensuring equipment reliability during the night shift operation.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Food Safety
Comply at all times with site Health & Safety, food safety, and hygiene procedures.
Identify, report, and record hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Support safety audits, inspections, and investigations, assisting with corrective actions.
Provide safe working guidance to visitors and contractors on site.
Maintenance & Engineering Operations
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with agreed schedules.
Respond promptly to unplanned breakdowns, carrying out fault-finding and repairs to minimise downtime.
Accurately record maintenance activities, breakdowns, and downtime using the Maintain-X system.
Ensure machinery, equipment, and engineering facilities are maintained to a safe and effective standard.
Maintain detailed and accurate records, including root cause analysis of equipment failures.
Continuous Improvement & Projects
Identify recurring faults and contribute to long-term corrective and preventative solutions.
Propose improvements to equipment reliability, safety, and performance.
Support engineering projects and site improvement initiatives aligned to business objectives.
Contribute to Quality and Continuous Improvement (QCIT) activities.
Standards & Systems
Maintain engineering work areas and workshops to required housekeeping and hygiene standards.
Dispose of waste materials in line with site procedures.
Use company systems and software as required, including Maintain-X and Microsoft Office (training provided).
Work towards agreed engineering KPIs.
Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role.
About You
Essential
Experience in an engineering or maintenance role within a manufacturing or food production environment.
Ability to carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond effectively to breakdowns.
Good understanding of Health & Safety and food safety requirements in manufacturing.
Able to work independently on night shift, take ownership, and see tasks through to completion.
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Desirable
Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Multi-skilled engineering experience (mechanical and/or electrical).
Experience using a CMMS system.
Exposure to continuous improvement or project-based engineering work.
