to join our team at LTi Metaltech, based at Milton Park, Abingdon. This position will be supporting two sites, LTi Metaltech and also LTi Vessco (based in Bridgend, Wales) and has responsibility for ensuring that the plant, machinery and equipment of both companies meet agreed standards of operation, with a key focus on preventative maintenance schedules. This will necessitate visiting the Bridgend site twice a month and potentially more often should a critical fault develop that requires oversight by this position.
You will be the owner of critical spares, tools and required servicing. You must also help to foster a culture of continuous improvement with the ability to influence others in a positive manner
LTi Metaltech
specialises in the precision fabrication and welding of high-performance vessels and structures for use in demanding industrial applications, from cryogenic pressure vessels to high tech industrial furnaces, and nuclear waste containers.
KEY TASKS
To maintain a schedule of services for all production equipment, ensuring that relevant regulatory, warranty, legal and insurance-related requirements are met in terms of frequency of servicing, testing and inspection whilst also complying with the Company's Quality Policy.
- Liaise with and, where necessary, call out agreed sub-contractors to deal with any specialised breakdowns or repairs.
- Liaise with other departments and educate all regarding raising issues via the appropriate channels.
- Update and maintain records in line with the current requirements as well as retaining accurate and appropriate paperwork in relation to the required paperwork requirement.
- Update and maintain internal software programmes, including the requirements and resolution for future reference.
To ensure identified sub-contract suppliers used to service and maintain equipment are able to cover the requirements and ensure they go through the approval process.
- Identify the risks to our business with regards to servicing / maintaining all equipment.
- Identify a minimum of 2 suppliers to maintain each service / piece of equipment, ensuring that they are fit for purpose and responsive.
- Ensure that the purchasing approval process for new contractors is carried out, in liaison with the Purchasing Department.
- Manage callouts, ensuring that responses are in line with SLA's (Service Level Agreements) negotiated by our Purchasing Department.
To work closely with Production teams, Facilities coordinator, Safety coordinator and the Engineering Department to carry out any servicing, repairs and maintenance.
- To conduct accompanied tours of our facility as required, and as authorised by the Management Team.
- To maintain a record of visits, with reasons for visit and outcomes. Add to the records any correspondence from suppliers regarding their visits.
Ensure the fast resolution of any breakdowns, and to ensure safety, optimize machine efficiency and minimize waste levels. To be pro-active in avoiding downtime by initiating and necessary improvement measures prior to failure
- To set clear service plans in place that will reduce the risk of break downs or lost time
- To support production teams by identifying key spares for all equipment, implement a document process that includes monthly stock checks of these spares
To monitor the performance of the machinery and equipment and then suggest new projects or working practices to ensure continual improvement in health and safety, quality, performance and the general functioning of the site.
- To understand what the maximum capacity of all equipment will be and then advise the management team if equipment is not utilized to its full potential
- To support the production department outside their normal working hours if there is a critical break down or equipment can only be freed up on weekends or outside contracted hours, willing to support key persons by phone outside of normal working hours
- Have a clear understanding of safety rules and implement tag out lock out process.
To ensure that any routine day to day Maintenance tasks and priorities are agreed with the Planning lead or Production Manager, as appropriate.
To undertake any other tasks that may from be requested time-to-time
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience as a Multi-skilled Engineer within the Welding and Fabrication industries would be an advantage
Experience of responding to breakdowns
Implementing PPM schedules in line with company policy
PLC fault diagnostics with good back ground in electrical fault finding, repairs and pneumatics/hydraulics
Improving overall equipment efficiency and performance
Service and repairs to CNC cutting machines and Weld robots will be an advantage
