Cannington Enterprises LTD

are a medium sized family owned business based in rural Somerset, with an annual turnover of circa +20m per annum. The businesses heritage is firmly based in farming but has diversified into temperature-controlled warehousing, anaerobic digestion, renewable energy generation, compost manufacture and bagging and more recently Co2 carbon capture.

We are looking to strengthen our team and operational capability as we continue to expand and diversify by hiring a locally based Maintenance Engineer to help support the growth.

As

Maintenance Engineer

, you will hold either Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering qualification or related field; OR equivalent technical training. With a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in maintenance engineering, facilities engineering, or equipment maintenance (industry-specific experience preferred).

This is a hands-on role the requires a 'can do' proactive attitude in a dynamic and very seasonal business.

Perform routine preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems. Diagnose equipment malfunctions and carry out corrective repairs to minimize downtime. Inspect, test, and maintain machinery to ensure compliance with safety and the latest BSI and operational standards Working closely with the Head of Engineering / Maintenance (or his deputy) on priorities of the day.

What We're Looking For

Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, automation, PLCs, pumps, motors, HVAC, conveyors, etc. Proficiency in diagnostic tools, machine repair techniques, and root-cause analysis. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach Ability to balance forward planning with day-to-day operations Good communication and relationship building skills Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, day to day working with the Head of Engineering, other engineering team members, Warehousing Manager, Composting Manager, Co2 Plant Manager to ensure all aspects of the plant remain operational.
