We are looking for a proactive Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical and electrical background to join our team. You will play a crucial role in the maintenance and optimisation of our manufacturing equipment. By focusing on machine maintenance, repair and preventative work, you will ensure that our production teams operate efficiently, safely and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities:




Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



Conduct thorough inspections of all installed machinery, including related parts and components. Use shop floor equipment and machine tools to fabricate or repair necessary parts. Ensure planned and corrective maintenance tasks are completed as scheduled. Investigate faults and repair/resolve machinery breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime. Undertake emergency breakdown repairs. Identify the reasons for machinery breakdowns and determine the needed repairs, reconditioning or replacements. Testing of chemicals. Installation and testing of new equipment. Carry out minor repairs and improvements to the fabric of the site. Provide reports to the Maintenance Manager and complete all relevant paperwork and record keeping. Carry out tasks in compliance with the Company's health and safety procedures and identify potential health, safety and environmental hazards and risks. Liaison with external contractors. Operation of MEWPS.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:





At least two years of proven experience of mechanical engineering in a manufacturing setting. Mechanical and/or electrical qualifications (ONC/City & Guilds). NVQ4 or time served apprenticeship in engineering will be considered.

Experience in working with cranes is essential.

Experience in ARC/MIG welding. Experience of 3 phase control systems and inverters. Proficiency in setting up machinery. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles. Experience of fault finding and route cause identification. Experience pf pneumatic systems. Skilled in installing, maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of machinery. General fabrication. Understanding of all legislation and critical requirements including PUWER and LOLER. Self-sufficient and proactive, with a strong motivation and confidence in managing machinery independently. IPAF licence (although training may be given to the right candidate), Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying information effectively to shift leaders and other managers. IOSH Managing Safely including COSHH.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:



Qualified to HND or HNC level in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering. 18th Edition Electrical Certification with a solid understanding of the Electricity at Work Regulations. Maintenance of overhead cranes. Project management skills, with the ability to lead improvement initiatives. IOSH Managing Safely.

What can we offer?





40k to 47,500 per annum (monthly pay, salary). Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 7.30am to 4pm. You will be required to attend out of hours breakdowns where an emergency occurs (evenings and weekends) for which a callout payment and hours worked will apply. 22 days paid holiday per year, plus bank holidays. Holidays increase to 25 days with length of service, plus bank holidays. Length of Service Gift Reward Scheme. EOT annual bonus scheme. Company pension scheme.
