Casual Maintenance & Estate Assistant
to join our team.
Enjoy having the flexibility to work casually, shifts will be offered as and when they arise.
You can choose to accept or decline shifts based on your availability.
You'll be paid circa 12.21 per hour worked.

Established in 1943, our network of Learning Locations provide day and residential courses for all ages, from young children to retired adults, from schools and communities throughout the UK, reaching many others through our publications and community-based programmes.
What you'll be doing
As a Casual Maintenance & Estate Assistant your duties will be varied to include:
Assisting with repairs, maintenance, and improvements to the centre's buildings and grounds
Helping maintain and service plant, equipment, and machinery
Carrying out Health & Safety monitoring and record keeping
Supporting external contractors when needed
Contributing to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and visitors
Our centre is always busy, so we need casual team members who are happy to help wherever required

Where you'll be based
The Field Studies Council Millport centre is situated on the Isle of Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. Surrounded by nature, purpose-built teaching spaces, and comfortable accommodation with sea views, the centre offers an inspiring environment to lead, learn, and deliver engaging outdoor education. Its eco-friendly design and access to a Research Vessel allow staff and students to explore the marine environment in unique ways.
Millport provides endless opportunities for adventure and discovery. From coastal exploration and snorkelling to hill walking, rock climbing, and team challenges, the island itself becomes a living classroom. We ask that you have:
Previous experience in general maintenance, grounds work, or trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, or electrics
Ability to use tools and equipment safely
Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems
Flexibility, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Awareness of Health & Safety requirements in a work environment
A committed and proactive approach to personal development; motivated to learn new skills and overcome new challenges
