Carry out routine maintenance, repair, and decoration of the building, fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
Undertake basic plumbing, joinery, painting, and minor electrical work where competent.
Maintain external areas, including gardens, pathways, fencing, and car parks, ensuring they are safe and tidy.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents, minimising disruption.
Health & Safety
Complete and record regular checks including:
Fire alarm and emergency lighting tests
Nurse call system checks
Water temperature monitoring and legionella control measures
Window restrictor and bed rail inspections
Identify and report hazards, faults, and risks immediately to the Home Manager.
Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in line with Health & Safety legislation and CQC standards.
Safely use, store, and maintain tools, ladders, and materials in accordance with COSHH regulations.
Planned Preventative Maintenance
Develop and maintain a planned maintenance schedule for the home.
Liaise with approved contractors for specialist works and ensure safe working practices are followed on-site.
Monitor and sign off completed work to ensure it meets required standards.
Record Keeping
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, checklists, and statutory testing records.
Support audits and inspections (e.g. CQC, Fire Safety, Environmental Health).
Teamwork & Communication
Work collaboratively with staff to ensure maintenance tasks are completed safely and with minimal impact on residents.
Communicate effectively about maintenance priorities and timescales.
Uphold confidentiality and respect for residents at all times.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in maintenance, facilities, or building work.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
Understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH, and risk assessment principles.
Strong record-keeping and organisational skills.
Experience in a care home or healthcare environment (desirable).

Requirements
Proven experience in maintenance roles with strong mechanical knowledge.

Welding skills are highly desirable.
Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Customer service orientation with a professional attitude towards colleagues and clients.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
