Our Maintenance Fitters are responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of machinery and equipment used in a manufacturing setting. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
As the
Maintenance Fitter
, you will be responsible for:
Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on manufacturing machinery and equipment.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogues as necessary.
Dismantle machinery and equipment to remove and replace defective parts.
Provide breakdown coverage and work overtime as necessary to ensure emergency maintenance is carried out promptly, enabling machinery to be operational as soon as possible
Preventive Maintenance:
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to ensure all equipment operates efficiently.
Lubricate, clean, and adjust parts and machinery.
Troubleshooting:
Troubleshoot and identify malfunctions in equipment and systems using diagnostic tools and techniques.
Use precision measuring instruments to ensure machinery parts meet specifications.
Installation and Assembly:
Assemble, install, and align machinery and equipment using hand and power tools.
Test and calibrate machinery to ensure it is operating correctly and safely.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including parts used and labour time.
Prepare reports on maintenance activities and machinery performance.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.
Follow company policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with production staff to schedule maintenance activities and minimise disruptions.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding the status of machinery and any potential issues.
Qualifications
Technical training or apprenticeship in mechanical maintenance or a related field is preferred.
Proven experience as a maintenance fitter or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Proficient in using hand and power tools.
Knowledge of health and safety practices in a manufacturing setting.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Monday-Friday 8am-5:00pm & occasional Saturdays
