Job Description

We are based in Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to the beautiful Snowdonia National Park , and are looking for a flexible, hardworking maintenance/handyman to join our team at Betws-y-Coed Railway Station.

The station is a busy tourist destination, we like to keep a high standard of presentation for the thousands of visitors the village attracts each year.

The duties of the maintenance/handyman include general maintenance work and completing odd jobs around the station grounds and at the Alpine Coffee Shop, Hangin' Pizzeria, Alpine Apartments and our art gallery to ensure everything remains in working order. Basic plumbing, electrical knowledge, joinery and experience using hand/power tools are therefore essential skills for this position.

We have a schedule of tasks that need doing weekly to keep the station tidy and presentable before completing other jobs that arise.

The role may include supporting our gardener if needed at the station and our private home which is a short drive away. The maintenance duties here would remain the same. General helping and maintenance around the house with restocking firewood etc.

An occasional request may also be made that you are able to take care of the owners' pets at the house while they are away on short trips.

While working hours are Monday to Friday, we may ask that you be on call for our apartments should any rare maintenance emergencies occur out of hours.

The successful candidate must have an eye for detail, be able to work independently using their own initiative, but also as part of a team, and be able to follow instructions. They will be responsible for performing tasks to keep the businesses and grounds in working order.

We pride ourselves on our unique and artistic design at the station, so duties would also include assisting art projects and installations when required. An eye for design and appreciation for art is therefore desirable.

A clean driver's licence is essential for this role and there is a work van on site available for daily use for the successful candidate.

Wages are determined based on experience.
