Job Summary




The Maintenance Lead is responsible for all maintenance related tasks at the base to ensure operational needs are met. He/she manages and coaches the Chief Engineer(s) on site. The Maintenance Lead will have managerial oversight of all engineering staff on site including production planning, maintenance planning and stores personnel. All organizational tasks related to production planning, manpower planning, follow up of training and assessments, checks and calibration of tooling and equipment, availability of approved data, follow-up of audit findings and compliance with MOE procedures are managed locally by the Maintenance Lead in close communication with the Maintenance Manager. The maintenance lead reports directly to the Base Manager and reports functionally to the Group Maintenance Manager concerning all Part 145 matters. The maintenance lead will work a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster, per the Engineering roster in Blackpool.

PROCEDURES

  • Ensure the highest quality and safety standard and promote awareness of Human Factors.
  • Stimulate a continuous feedback culture in order to develop and improve the achievements of the individual and the team.
  • Report directly to the MM as needed and systematically via the weekly reporting procedure.
  • Ensure that all conditions of the aircraft or a component which constitute a safety hazard and all occurrences which are identified as mandatory occurrence reports shall be reported via the NHV occurrence reporting system by himself or via the engineering staff.
  • Be aware of applicable ERP on the station.
  • Ensure correct following of all MOE procedures by its Certifying Staff, Support Staff and Store personnel.
  • Ensure that maintenance records are stored digitally and the original work dossiers sent to NHV CAMO technical records.
  • Verify all requested maintenance as per Work Order is within the approved scope of the maintenance station.
  • Assist, aided by the Chief Engnieer, in authority audits, customer audits and internal audits.
  • Take, aided by the Chief Engineer, corrective actions on audit findings in close communication with QHSE and the Maintenance Manager

PERSONNEL

  • Advise the Base Manager on the creation and implementation of duty/shift rosters and inform the Maintenance Manager on any intended changes of the duty/shift roster pattern.
  • Ensure sufficient and appropriately qualified personnel is available in the station to properly complete the duty/shift rosters applicable for the line operation and for the planned base maintenance.
  • Ensure that training sessions (initial training or recurrent training) organized by SCC training coordinator are properly planned in the duty/shift roster of the engineers concerned.
  • Ensure that no systematic over planning of personnel is done, respecting the duty and fatigue limitations specified in the MOE.
  • Be involved in the selection and recruiting process of new Certifying Staff, Support Staff, Store personnel and MO admin personnel.
  • Manage qualifications and experience of each maintenance staff member engaged. The Maintenance Lead tracks the training status for all engineers on the station and plans training as required in cooperation with SCC training coordinator.
  • Perform pre assessments of engineering staff iaw MOE procedures and do the follow-up of the status of competence assessments of all Engineering staff and MO admin staff of the station.
  • Promote human factors and safety awareness. Make sure that staff wears/uses the proper personal protective equipment.
  • Be responsible for yearly objectives setting and reviewing of Chief Engineer(s) in cooperation with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Constantly manage the Chief Engineer(s) and the team in order to develop and improve the achievements of the individual and of the team.

FACILITIES

  • Verify that the facilities in use are and remain appropriate for the planned work.
  • Ensure that the working environment is appropriate for the task being undertaken.
  • Verify that the local Maintenance Organization has enough and appropriate facilities for the storage of equipment, tools and parts.
  • Ensure office accommodation is appropriate to allow proper management of the planned work.
  • Be responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the maintenance facility.

PLANNING

  • Ensure a hangar visit plan is established in communication with the CAMO maintenance planner and ensure maintenance is planned in regards to this plan taking into account the workload on the station.
  • Verify that all required approved and current maintenance data is available for the planned work.
  • Ensure that staged cards for complex tasks are included in each work dossier.
  • Ensure that all tools, equipment and materials/parts will be available for the planned work taking into consideration estimated lead times. This can be done in close cooperation with a dedicated production planner.
  • Ensure that all equipment and tools are checked for appropriate condition within the required timeframe and ensure special tools requiring calibration are calibrated before due date or taken out of use.
  • Ensure toolbox meetings are organized on a weekly basis. He will be the back-up for the Chief Engineer who normally leads the toolbox meeting talk.
  • Communicate with the Supply chain Manager on adequate solutions for parts in quarantine such as overhaul / repair etc.
  • Communicate with the SCC Tooling coordinator for rotation of tools between bases and repair of specialized tooling.


Experience




  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in aviation engineering
  • Experience in management of multiple maintenance activities
  • Minimum 2 years experience as Chief engineer or team leader
  • Knows & operates by the procedures & processes (operational, quality, safety, ...) installed by the company and/or in accordance with UK CAA (Part-145, Part-66, Part-CAMO), NAA, Manufacturers requirements, and Statutory and Company Health, Safety and Environment Policies
  • Comply with the UK CAA Part-CAMO and Part-145 requirements


Skills




  • Preferably UKCAA Part 66 license (B1.3, B2, C)
  • Preferably type rating for the Maintenance Organization approved scope of work
  • ICT literate (specific aviation software & MS Office)
  • Languages: English: professional level (mandatory)
  • Excellent organizational and people management skills
