The role




The Maintenance Officer will work within the Facilities team, ensuring the successful operational delivery of Wilton Park. The Maintenance Officer role will be to provide a range of customer orientated, building related support, including reactive and preventative maintenance.


Key responsibilities



Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance, facilities related housekeeping, waste management and recycling services, as appropriate Monitor the building and surrounding outside areas daily Assist with facilities related deliveries and supplies and that storage areas are clean, tidy and free from obstruction. This will require the use of company vehicles. Ensure safe and appropriate recycling of all waste materials segregating them into correct areas Proactively undertake and maintain appropriate records of scheduled maintenance tasks ensuring completion of all tasks on the maintenance check list (daily, weekly, monthly etc) Work with external contractors, as directed, supporting them regarding access to areas on site, and having knowledge of the buildings, site and our building services Support colleagues as required with the setup and breakdown of public rooms and offices, including delivery of materials to and from designated storage areas using appropriate transport Always work in a safe and healthy manner, complying with health and safety requirements and standard operating procedures Assist in keeping roads, entrances and exits clear of snow and ice as required

Essential skills



Basic building repairs and maintenance Full driving licence Ability to be flexible, work at pace and effectively time-manage, whilst maintaining accuracy, paying attention to detail whilst using initiative as appropriate Ability to work with colleagues in all departments in a supportive and customer focused way with a positive can-do approach towards your role A level of fitness sufficient to perform all the tasks required in the role Basic computer skills

The vacancy is full time working for 37 hours (net) per week Monday-Friday between the hours of 0800-1630 including an unpaid lunch break of one hour. This may include occasional weekends and bank holidays.

Location




Wiston House, the home of Wilton Park, is in Steyning, West Sussex. Wiston House is not easily accessible via public transport, so please take this into consideration when applying for this role as you will be expected to attend the workplace in person.

Selection process details

Security




Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check (SC). See our vetting charter.


In addition to nationality requirements outlined below, to pass security clearance you are required to have a UK footprint of 2 in the last 5 years (including as a Crown Servant overseas). This is a mandatory requirement of National Security Vetting (NSV).

Eligibility




You will be eligible for appointment only if:

You are a British citizen or hold settled status in the UK You have been resident in the UK for at least two of the previous ten years, at least one year of which must have been a consecutive twelve-month period, unless you have served overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of Her Majestys Government, or have lived overseas as a result of your parents or partners Government employment. Also, to enable the appropriate security checks to be carried out, you must have lived for at least three consecutive years in one country.

You should be aware that a lack of sufficient background information may prevent you from being granted security clearance.
