About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is vital in supporting our senior management team, support workers, and--most importantly--our service users, by maintaining the residential properties they live in.
You will be responsible for ensuring our homes and flats remain in good repair, safe, and fit for purpose. The role covers a wide range of maintenance tasks across multiple properties and offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute directly to the well-being of vulnerable individuals in our care. You will be an employee of Hibiscus Homes.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out general property maintenance, repairs, and basic improvements (e.g., plumbing, painting, carpentry, minor electrical work)
Conduct routine inspections and identify necessary repairs or hazards
Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
Liaise with external contractors when needed and supervise works to ensure standards are met
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations
Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
Support the wider team in creating a safe and secure environment for our service users/
Requirements:
Proven experience in a similar maintenance or facilities role
Good working knowledge of general repairs, health & safety standards, and building maintenance
Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
Strong communication and organisational skills
A full UK driving licence is desirable due to travel between properties
PAT Testing certification is desirable
Experience working in supported housing or social care environments is an advantage
