Job Description

The Estates Maintenance Specialist should have an electrical biased background. They will will carry out (with minimum supervision) maintenance including; fault finding, repairs and installation work on all facilities, plant and equipment throughout the Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust Estate and will act as the Trust representative in the absence of the Estates working supervisor or Estates Officer when requested to do so as and when the need arises by line management.



To work in accordance with the requirements of HTM's, HBN's, British Standards, Model Specifications and all Statutory Regulations, Codes of Practice and Trust Policies.



To be able to make judgements across a wide range of estates issues taking into account legislation, Health & Safety, conflicting demands and complex fault finding.



Able to plan and prioritise maintenance works, including liaison with users, contractors.



Reviews policies and practices and their impact on other departments.



Able to oversee contractors working for Estates to ensure quality control.



Able to concentrate for long periods of time to deal with paperwork and operational incidents.



To ensure that all incidents are reported and recorded as appropriate.



Working on the full range of Estates Services equipment, the Estates Specialist will undertake activities which require comparison of a range of options, complex facts requiring analysis to resolve technical issues in on multifaceted equipment/situations many of which have direct impact on patient safety and the built environment. Responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment including various voltage systems, sterilisers, medical gas systems, nurse call systems, lighting, fire detection, building services controls, standby generator plant, heating and ventilation control systems and refrigeration plant.
