Purpose of Role




We are seeking an experienced and proactive Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to join our Estates & Facilities team at Whiston Hospital. This is a key position with an electrical bias, supporting the Facilities Manager in overseeing day-to-day maintenance operations, managing contractors, and ensuring that our services run efficiently and to the highest standards.





In this role, you will act as deputy to the Facilities Manager when required, co-ordinate electrical and general maintenance work across multiple teams, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and maintain strong relationships with both internal staff and external contractors.


Responsibilities




Provide cover for the Facilities Manager during absence. Review service reports from contractors, escalating issues where necessary. Deliver toolbox talks and support the professional development of the direct team. Co-chair and co-ordinate weekly team meetings and arrange regular contractor meetings with recorded minutes. Supervise works undertaken by contractors, carrying out Health & Safety inspections. Prepare and review reports for safety groups, attending Trust safety meetings when required. Allocate work orders, manage planned preventative maintenance (PPMs), and oversee outstanding tasks, with a focus on electrical systems. Review and confirm contractor invoices before Facilities Manager approval. Monitor compliance data and follow up on missing documentation via PowerBI. Oversee daily mitigations, temporary works, and reactive lifecycle projects. Work closely with the admin team to resolve outstanding issues such as paperwork, training, and attendance records. Carry out Authorised Person (Electrical) duties and other specialist tasks following appropriate training.

Essential Qualifications/Skills




NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant electrical engineering discipline. Strong electrical training and background (mechanical knowledge advantageous). Relevant Competent Person (CP) training. HNC in a relevant engineering subject. Experience working within a healthcare environment (desirable). Previous managerial, supervisory, or team leader experience. Strong organisational and co-ordination skills. Ability to lead and motivate a team. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with both internal stakeholders and external contractors.
