WHAT TO EXPECT

In this Maintenance technical specialist role, you will have a brilliant opportunity to join a highly skilled, dynamic maintenance team based in Solihull.
You will contribute towards the long-term success of Jaguar Land Rover by providing high-level specialised technical support to your shift team in an uplifted body construction manufacturing facility with new manufacturing assets.
The manufacturing asset footprint includes numerous modern technologies encompassing automated multi-axis robots, automated welding and joining equipment, laser joining systems, automated conveyors, complex tooling and fixturing and lifting equipment to name but a few.

Delivering a premium product from your manufacturing facility, you will take extreme pride in being part of the maintenance operations team at Solihull, providing engineering maintenance support to maximise production efficiencies by maintaining all manufacturing assets and ancillary equipment within the manufacturing facility.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Actively support the control processes and cell functionality under the direction of the Control Engineers
  • Provide first response technical assistance for maintenance associates on the shop floor
  • Be responsible for the rolling systems in place that maintain the integrity of all program backups for the facility
  • Hold the responsibility for monitoring key areas for repeat breakdowns via data gathered from digital platforms
  • Provide day-to-day support to the maintenance team to ensure a safe and efficient production performance is delivered within the Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Environment framework
  • Comply to Health and Safety procedures by ensuring all safety metrics are achieved, including identifying safety hazards and risks and ensuring corrective action implemented and ensures the team receive appropriate training
  • Support the team to carry out running checks and repairs, as well as the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities
  • Own and lead 5S and workplace organisation activities, validating effectiveness to standards
  • Co-ordinate with Maintenance Leaders (ML\'s) to ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time with the right tools for the task whist communicating clearly with the wider operations team
  • Lead the major breakdown Practical Problem Solving (PPS) board from breakdown tipping point to Concern Report Out (CRO)
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

As the Maintenance Technical Specialist, you will need to hold a relevant formal qualification such as NVQ Level 3 or time served apprenticeship within Maintenance Engineering or similar. You will need to have proven engineering maintenance technical skills gained from a manufacturing environment. Ideally within a fast-paced engineering or FMCG environment.

Essential:
  • A recognised time-served apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in an engineering maintenance discipline
  • A proven maintenance engineering professional with high standards of electrical and mechanical understanding and competencies
  • High level knowledge of ABB IRC 5 robot functionality and programming
  • Knowledge of fault finding on Rockwell Control Logix PLC software & CMU\'s using JLR\'s DCP standard
  • High level of knowledge of Henrob SPR rivet systems and the software functionality
  • Working knowledge of SCA systems integration with ABB IRC 5 robots
  • Support improvement activities & actively seek further improvement ideas (Kaizens)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively cross-functionally at different levels
  • Understanding of PLC\'s/ automation and control/ mechanical systems/ body joining
Desirable:
  • Experience of environmental controls and practices
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety processes
  • Demonstrable experience in lean manufacturing methodologies including TPM, 5S, Kaizen and PPS (Practical Problem Solving) techniques
  • Previous experience in the use of a CMMS platform
  • Experience in the supervision of contractors and equipment OEM\'s
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety processes
  • Understanding of PUWER and its influence in the maintenance arena
