The Role



We are looking for a Maintenance technician who would enjoy working across two Historic Hotel environments. The Maintenance technician will work with the Maintenance Manager to carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance tasks correctly and efficiently, ensuring a safe environment for guests, visitors and employees.

Overview of the role



To report to the Maintenance Manager for list of daily duties To ensure that all duties set are completed within the duration of the shift and to report any further problems back to the Maintenance Manager Have a thorough knowledge of all plant and equipment in the hotel and maintain these in efficient working order by following routine maintenance procedures. Carry out short term (reactive) maintenance and decorating work e.g. repairs affecting guest bedrooms and services as a matter of urgency but adhering to all safety procedures and causing minimum disruption to guests. Deal with complaints/problems politely and positively and make every effort to resolve them. If you cannot resolve them, refer to your Supervisor but, in any case, advise full details to your Supervisor at the first opportunity. Liaise daily with all departments and deal appropriately with any maintenance issues raised, giving priority to those issues that compromise Health & Safety and security. Use, operate and store all tools, equipment and materials safely and securely to comply with statutory regulations e.g. COSHH In the absence of the Maintenance Manager, liaise with contractors on site to ensure that Permits to Work are completed in compliance with Company Health & Safety procedures. To ensure all lighting is maintained and in full working order To ensure that fire zones are isolated when contractors are working To maintain all building codes and installation requirements. To ensure all requirements, as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures, are met To ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded To ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes To ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements To re-program and repair door lock systems To change the shower mix thermostats To perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures To undertake general plumbing and electrical work, but must be trained before doing so To carry out work in Hotel guest bedrooms To test fire alarm and sprinklers and record documentation for compliance To tune and maintain TV and to maintain and repair furniture around the Hotel To operate plant, boilers and chillers To undertake preventive maintenance work. To ensure the plant rooms, staircases, boiler room, chiller room and generator room are clean and clear at all times To do the emergency light testing Be aware of and operate the hotel security and emergency procedures.

ESSENTIAL/ PERFERABLE SKILLS



Previous maintenance experience Experience in decorating, plumber or other trade skill is essential Ability to work as part of a team Reliable, Efficient and pro-active Confident and effective communicator who can converse at all levels High levels of personal presentation and grooming Self driven and ability to work on their own

The Old Hall hotel is reputed to be the oldest hotel in the UK, brimming with charm and full of historic character our guests love. Situated opposite the beautiful Pavilion Gardens and within the vicinity of the famous Buxton Opera House, this is a quirky small friendly hotel which offers warmth working within such a small team.
