We are looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team in Hartlepool, working on a rotating three-shift pattern. You will be responsible for maintaining plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong mechanical and/or electrical background, supporting production through effective maintenance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns using effective fault-finding and diagnostic techniques.
Conduct planned preventative maintenance to maximise equipment uptime.
Prioritise and complete maintenance tasks with an understanding of production impact.
Participate in improvement projects and risk assessments.
Apply continuous improvement tools such as QC Story and Major Breakdown Reporting.
Maintain high engineering standards and contribute to problem-solving initiatives.
Provide innovative and proactive support to the site.
Work flexibly across a three-shift system, including covering overtime for sickness, holidays, shutdowns, and projects.
Engage in annual competency testing and personal development.
Essential Skills and Attributes
Fully accredited apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
HNC qualification or equivalent.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork.
Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Flexible, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
Willingness to work across rotating shifts and respond to business needs.
Desirable
Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
Familiarity with QC Story, Major Breakdown Reporting, and risk assessment procedures.
Exposure to project management or relevant training.
Knowledge of engineering standards in a manufacturing setting
.
