Primary Function and Purpose:

  • Using mechanical engineering, and extended electrical engineering skills.
  • With minimal supervision set up and operate plant and equipment to enable production output to be met.
  • Maintain and preserve the value of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s assets, fully contributing to planned preventative maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Undertake installation and commissioning of plant and equipment associated with projects.
  • Suggest and implement modifications to plant and equipment to improve performance and / or reliability.
  • Ensure plant and equipment remains in a safe and proper condition at all times during both operating and maintenance periods.
  • Attend to plant and equipment breakdowns and failures.
Principal responsibilities

Involvement in routine engineering activities to include:
  • planning liaison and execution of planned preventative maintenance and calibration activities
  • planning and execution of breakdown maintenance and repairs to meet the business needs of the Company;
  • maximisation of plant and equipment uptime;
  • preservation of the value of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s assets.
Provide an engineering resource to site wide projects, to include:
  • Plant and equipment specification and design
  • Project planning and contractor liaison
  • Installation
  • Commissioning
Adherence to statutory and corporate compliance requirements, to include;
  • QA and production documentation and operational requirements
  • Health and safety policies and procedures
  • Assistance in workplace risk assessment exercises and remedial actions
  • Environmental protection policies and procedures
  • Participation in pollution prevention and waste minimisation initiatives
Ensure competency is maintained by;
  • Identification of knowledge deficiencies along with remedial actions
  • Maintenance of skills base through integration of craftsmen groups
  • Provision of training during installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment
Provide a process control resource through the use of;
  • Instrumentation and control including fault diagnosis, calibration techniques, interpretation of data
  • PLC\'s including interrogation, ladder diagrams, programming skills
  • Computer control systems including programming and manipulation
  • Mechanical control systems including pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical defect analysis
Qualifications and skills
  • Min HNC (BTEC Level 4)/HND (BTEC Level 5) - Electrical & Electrical Control Engineering
  • Apprenticeship Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical engineering/workshop experience
