About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive
Maintenance Technician
to take responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and performance of our production sites in
Yeovil and Holton Heath
. The ideal candidate will be qualified in
Electrical Engineering
, possess a
full UK driving licence
, and demonstrate flexibility to travel and respond to maintenance needs across both sites.
This is a hands-on role, requiring a practical, organised individual who takes pride in preventative work and driving performance improvements. You will be key in ensuring smooth operation and efficiency across all production equipment, reducing downtime, and supporting food safety and health & safety compliance.
Main Responsibilities:
Oversee all maintenance activities across Yeovil and Holton Heath sites.
Operate and maintain a
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
system, including accurate record-keeping.
Manage and update the company's PPM plan to maximise uptime and efficiency.
Carry out regular quality checks on machinery to proactively identify potential issues.
Ensure optimal operation of all bakery machinery, including learning and maintaining new equipment where practicable.
Diagnose and repair production line breakdowns and carry out general electrical and mechanical maintenance.
Lead the commissioning of new equipment and collaborate with external specialists as needed.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with
Food Safety
and
Health & Safety regulations
.
Produce and complete all relevant maintenance paperwork to a high standard.
Assist in writing operational instructions and training materials for new or updated machinery.
Manage stocks of spares, supplies, and equipment
such as production toolboxes.
Source specialist components, fixtures, or fittings
as required.
Coordinate external engineering support
when specialist help is needed.
Produce technical documents
, including purchasing specifications for new equipment.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Recognised qualification in
Electrical Engineering
(e.g., NVQ, HNC, or equivalent).
Full
UK driving licence
- essential for travel between Yeovil and Holton Heath.
Strong working knowledge of both electrical and mechanical maintenance.
Experience in PPM systems and maintenance planning.
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
Good communication skills and a proactive attitude toward continuous improvement.
Desirable:
Experience working in a
food production
environment.
Familiarity with commissioning and training on new machinery.
