We are looking to recruit a male Rehabilitation Assistant, with previous experience of working on a 1:1 basis with clients who have acquired brain injuries, working alongside a MDT, working with a clients own homes, support the MDT in achieving rehabilitation goals, initiating social and recreational involvement, supporting and encouraging activities of daily living.

Our client is in his mid 20s is fully independent and requires no support with personal care or associated tasks.

Working hours will generally be between 10am - 6pm, Monday - Saturday, but may from time to time include some evening work dependant on planned activities you plan with the client. You will be part of a team of three rehabilitation assistants and work on a part time basis.

Job description



The Rehab Assistant role involves:

Providing the Client with support enabling him to access a range of social, recreational, and sporting activities (this may include some evening work). Assisting the client and the rehabilitation team with practical day to day tasks and requirements. Attending formal meetings as required. Assist the client to engage in relevant travel trips and support the client during such trips. Act as a driver for the client. Assist with the implantation of rehabilitation tasks under the direction of therapists.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience



Sensitivity and discretion necessary to working within a client's own home. Always behaving within the good practice guidelines and standards of consent outlined in 'The Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England'. Full, clean UK driving license and the ability to drive for long periods of time to assist the client on regular 3-7-day breaks throughout the year. This could also include driving unfamiliar vehicles. There is also potential to support the client on international breaks (within the EU or further afield) for longer periods of time up to 7 days

Adherence to and contribute towards support plans and risk assessments. Achievement of planned goals for the client. Increased client independence and participation in tasks and activities both in and out of the home. Reduction in risks relating to the client's cognitive impairments, psychological and emotional problems. Knowledge of photography.

Essential



Full, clean UK Driving License with access to a vehicle (costs will be covered) Ability to work effectively within a team and on a one-to-one basis. Ability to work with intelligence and initiative but to seek help, support, or advice when needed or appropriate. Ability to work in an organised and systematic fashion. Able to work flexibly including late nights and weekend. Ability to always demonstrate appropriate and professional behaviour appropriate to the role. Tenacious and able to maintain a sense of purpose. Ability to recognise and report mistakes and learn from this process. Good time keeping. Remaining calm whilst under pressure. Ability to cope with episodes of mild challenging behaviour. Ability to demonstrate appropriate engagement skills whilst recognising professional boundaries. Confidence with driving long distances on some occasions. Have a good sense of humour. Be a good 'male' role model. Ability to work Saturdays (on a rota basis) and some evenings.

Desirable



NVQ Level II or III in Social Care Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent record keeping skills. Ability to utilise and implement training and instruction. Medium to high knowledge of photography theory & skill. Knowledge of brain injury. An understanding of the needs of people with brain injuries. Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams. Experience of working with clients and acquired brain injury.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From 19.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 14 per week
