We are seeking a Rehabilitation Support Worker to provide an exceptional service for our client in Manchester. About The Role

We are looking for a reliable and empathetic support worker to work alongside a 30-year-old male client with an acquired brain injury (ABI) and mental health needs. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to support his rehabilitation journey, help him build confidence in daily living skills, and promote his overall wellbeing through meaningful, structured activity.

The client lives at home with his partner and child. He is independent with personal care, and while support workers do not administer medication, they offer prompts and reminders as part of his morning routine.

He is actively engaged in his rehabilitation, with support from a full multi-disciplinary team. His current goals focus on planning, sequencing, problem-solving, and managing short-term memory difficulties. He likes routine and structure. Sudden changes can cause distress and, at times, lead to behavioural challenges, so a calm, consistent, and reassuring approach is essential.

He plays football, goes to the gym regularly, and enjoys being out and about in the community. Your role will involve supporting him with his day-to-day routines, including supporting him to care for his child, attending appointments, following structured rehabilitation plans, and joining him for community activities such as gym sessions, shopping trips, or lunch outings.

This is a part-time position of 70 hours over a four-week period. Shifts are from 10:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, working two days one week and three the next, on a rolling pattern. Occasionally, there may be evening activities or longer days, and support workers are expected to be available for up to three sleep-in shifts per month, which are shared across the team.

Your main attributes will be friendly, approachable and have empathy towards your client treating them with respect and dignity at all times. We support vulnerable people to live as independently as possible, by building their confidence and skills to realise their potential.

About You

Required:

Experience of working in a support role, both in the community and the home. Friendly, approachable and confident in the role. Experience and ability to understand and deal with complex and challenging behaviour. Flexible in approach to meet the needs of the client. NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent recognised health profession qualification. A full driving licence and access to your own car is required, as you will be using it to support the client in the community.

Desirable:

Experience working with acquired brain injury Previously worked with therapists to deliver a support plan. Registered on DBS update service.
