Are you looking for an active and rewarding role where you can truly make a difference?
We are seeking male support workers between the ages of 20 and 35 who are proactive, energetic, and positive to support a young man with an acquired brain injury (ABI) and epilepsy. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys staying active, has a sense of adventure, and thrives on variety.
In this role, you'll be helping him enjoy a fulfilling, independent lifestyle by engaging in activities like bike rides, exploring the community, trying out new hobbies, encouraging healthy meal planning and preparation, and assisting with appointments. There is no personal care involved, but you will play a vital role in providing companionship, encouragement, and support in his day-to-day activities.
What Your Day Could Look Like
Every day is different! You might find yourself riding bikes together, discovering new cycling routes, visiting local attractions, supporting him in pursuing his interests and hobbies, assisting him to appointments, or planning and preparing healthy meals together. The focus is on building confidence, fostering independence, and creating a positive, active routine.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting with outdoor activities like cycling, exploring nature trails, or visiting local attractions.
Encouraging and facilitating participation in hobbies, social events, and other meaningful activities.
Promoting independence by helping him develop new skills and routines.
Encouraging healthy meal planning and assisting with meal preparation to support a balanced lifestyle.
Assisting with appointments, including medical visits or other necessary meetings, and providing transportation if needed.
Ensuring safety and well-being during activities, particularly with epilepsy care plans.
Building a strong, positive relationship through trust, humour, and encouragement.
Adapting daily plans to suit his needs and interests.
Working collaboratively with family members and the wider support team.
Maintaining accurate records of progress, activities, and observations.
About You
We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated, enjoys staying active, and is passionate about healthy living.
