Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and indirectly to the Non-Executive Finance Director, you will play a critical role in developing and ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and effectiveness of our financial monitoring and performance measurement processes. The company is about to switch accounting systems from Sage to cloud-based Xero. The financial accounting and responsibility for monthly report generation, payroll processing, PAYE, VAT, Annual Statutory Accounts production and submission of all annual and statutory returns to Companies House will, at least initially, be outsourced to a third party; Cloud 10 Accounting, based in Manchester. This role will be key to ensuring that this process operates smoothly, being the main point of contact between the business and the accountancy team. This is to ensure that this role can focus primarily on the development of internal costing systems and the implementation of other appropriate management control and monitoring systems

Key Responsibilities
Cash-flow Management
: Develop systems to accurately monitor and manage detailed cash flow., preparing and updating a highly detailed 13-week forecast, reporting to the Managing Director on a daily basis.
Credit Control
: Monitor outstanding debtors, liaise with late-payers and chase up payments
Costing and Process Development
: Work closely with the Managing Director and business operations team to develop process accounting systems (product and job costing, margin analysis, stock control and introduce relevant key performance measuring and monitoring etc.) and develop the financial and operational reporting to provide insightful analysis of actual performance against budgets and targets.
Financial Reporting
: Prepare and own timely and insightful interpretation of monthly management reports and provide a written commentary for the Board.
Financial Planning
: Construct detailed and robust budgets and forecasts and undertake stress testing and scenario planning to assist the Board in the continuous development of strategic plans.
PAYE and VAT
: Whilst the processing of this is outsourced, this role will be responsible for the submission of timely and accurate data to enable accurate and timely payroll processing.
Book-keeping
: Ensuring that all credit card purchases are correctly receipted, chase VAT invoices from suppliers and ensure these documents are uploaded to the Xero accounting system via the Dext system in a timely and efficient manner.
Compliance
: Liaise with our financial accounting service, provided remotely by Cloud 10 Accounting, our bank and HMRC as required.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Qualified or part-qualified Accountant (CIMA[IT1] or ACA).
Strong understanding of CIS rules, subcontractor payments, and Reverse Charge VAT.
Advanced Excel, Powerpoint and Word skills for financial data analysis and reporting.
Working knowledge of Xero accounting software
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities.
