Job Description


:

As Management Accountant, you will primarily support in the preparation of accurate management accounting and management Information.

Also, you will act as a Finance Partner to support the organisation setting budgets and monitoring performance and forecasting against these, whilst ensuring a high standard of controls and governance.

Some of the key responsibilities for this successful person would be but no limited to:

Preparation of management accounts

  • Assist in the issue of accurate monthly management accounts and reports to time schedules
  • Prepare designated month-end and year-end journal adjustments to agreed deadlines, including accruals and prepayments
  • To complete assigned balance sheet reconciliations to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial reporting and security of assets against fraud or theft
  • Reconcile the intercompany accounts and post the gift aid journals
Finance Partner
  • Carry out monthly finance reviews with budget holders and assist budget holders in managing their budgets and provide them with the necessary
support to ensure expenditure is monitored on a regular basis throughout the year and that appropriate action is taken on a timely basis
  • Support budget holders in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • To identify key trends in income and expenditure by department / activity program and significant variances from budget. To investigate unusual or
unexpected departmental and activity results or variances and to bring these to the attention of the Head of Finance.

Controls and Procedures
  • Ensure that controls, procedures, conventions of use and timescales for tasks are current and are properly documented.
  • Act at all times in accordance with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s published policies and procedures
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Data Protection Legislation are complied with in carrying out the duties
  • Contribute to the Company achieving Best Value through raising standards of performance and improving efficiency.
Other Duties
  • Assist the Finance Director and Head of Finance with ad-hoc projects and costing exercises
  • Undertake stand-in roles for other colleagues from time to time, as agreed with your Line Manager.
Requirements

The successful Management Accountant you will be/have:
  • Part Qualified, Qualified or Qualified by Experience Accountant - (CIMA/ACA/ACCA)
  • Experience in preparing monthly management accounts and carrying out balance sheet reconciliations in a medium sized, fast paced organisation
  • Excellent if you have previous experience of Finance Business Partnering
  • Good knowledge and understanding of current, relevant accounting and regulatory framework and accounting principles, best practice and VAT
regulations
  • Strong IT skills in all MS Office products, especially intermediate to advanced Excel
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills together with the ability to operate within tight reporting deadlines and self-check own work
  • Good analytical, written & oral communication skills
  • Friendly approach and the ability to work as part of a team and with staff at all levels of seniority within the organisation
  • Analytical approach, accuracy and diligence
Desired
  • Knowledge of Charity Accounts and Grant Funding Issues pertaining to partial exemption for VAT purposes would be terrific, but definitely not essential
