Your Mission:
The Management Accountant plays a key role in supporting Bedfont Scientific's financial performance and strategic decision-making. Reporting to the CFO, the role is responsible for producing accurate and timely management accounts, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting across the business.
Working closely with departmental managers and senior stakeholders, the Management Accountant provides financial insight, cost control, and variance analysis to support operational efficiency, commercial growth, and regulatory compliance. The role also contributes to the continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and controls in line with Bedfont's quality, governance, and growth objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead the month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
Support the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities.
Provide financial analysis and insight to support decision-making across departments.
Monitor and report on costs, margins, and financial performance against budget and forecast.
Partner with departmental managers to support cost control and operational efficiency.
Support internal and external audit requirements and ensure compliance with financial controls.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and reporting.
Maintain accurate financial records in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Support ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required.
Mentor and support the development of junior members of the finance team.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA), or qualified by experience.
Proven experience in a management accounting role, ideally within a manufacturing, medical device, or regulated environment.
Experience producing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Understanding of cost control, margin analysis, and operational performance reporting.
Experience working to deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge of internal controls, audit requirements, and sound financial governance.
Essential Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
Strong Excel skills and experience using financial and ERP systems.
Effective organisational and time-management skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build effective working relationships.
Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities.
